Origin Admin: The Central Hub

Origin Admin is the control center that sits behind all your Origin sites. It's where shared data is managed once and sent out to every site that uses it, where new sites are set up and deployed, and where you can see the health of data syncing across the whole estate. If your site is where content is published, Origin Admin is where the shared foundation is maintained.

Origin Admin isn't for day-to-day page editing — that happens on each individual site. It's for the people who manage shared operator data, provision and deploy sites, and keep an eye on the system as a whole. Access is more restricted than the sites themselves.

What Origin Admin does for you

  • Manages operators centrally. Operator records — ratings, bonuses, regions, details — are maintained here once, then broadcast to the sites that subscribe to them, instead of being re-entered site by site.
  • Brings in external data. External operator data (the Harvester feed) is ingested here, reviewed by a person, and applied onto the master records before it ever reaches a site.
  • Sets up and deploys sites. New sites are provisioned and pushed live from here, using controlled deployment targets.
  • Shows sync health. A status view shows which sites have received the latest operator data and which have updates still pending, so problems are visible in one place.

Publishing operator changes to sites

When an operator is edited in Origin Admin, the change is recorded but doesn't go anywhere automatically. Someone explicitly publishes and broadcasts it, and Origin Admin then sends the update out to every subscribed site. This deliberate step is what keeps operator data consistent across many sites while still leaving a human in control of when changes ship.

For how that change is received and applied on the site side — including local overrides and review mode — see "How Operator Data Works."

Keeping sites in sync

Because updates travel from Origin Admin out to many sites, things can occasionally lag — a site might be temporarily unreachable when an update is sent. The site sync status view makes this visible: it shows which sites are up to date, which have deliveries still pending, and lets an administrator retry a delivery or clear a stuck queue and request a fresh full sync.

Access and signing in

Origin Admin uses single sign-on, so you sign in with your organization account rather than a separate password. Access here is intentionally narrow, with two levels:

  • Admin — full access across sites and settings.
  • User — scoped to the specific sites they've been assigned, and limited to the deployment targets they're allowed to use.

This is separate from the roles on the individual content sites, so someone can have broad access on a site but limited access in Origin Admin, or vice versa.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Origin Admin where I edit my site's pages?

No. Page content is edited on each individual site. Origin Admin manages shared data (like operators), site provisioning, and system health.

I updated an operator in Origin Admin — why isn't it on the sites?

Editing records the change but doesn't send it. It has to be published and broadcast, after which subscribed sites receive it. Check the site sync status view if a site still looks behind.

Why is my access different here than on my site?

Origin Admin has its own two-level access (Admin and User) and its own site assignments, separate from the roles on the content sites.

A site shows pending updates that won't clear — what now?

An administrator can retry the delivery from the sync status view, or clear the queue and trigger a full resync to get that site back in step.
